The Foodies Lounge for fun, informal and informative talks from local food heroes
Throughout the weekend, there will be a series of foodie talks in our Foodies Lounge, where you can, hopefully, learn some new things about food and drink.
They will led by local food heroes and are meant to be both informative and fun. If you’re lucky, you might also get some free samples!
Our speakers will be:
Nenette Scrivener, Nenette’s Chocolates
Nenette is an artisan chocolatier who trained with some of the biggest names in chocolate. She has been making her own chocolate for ten years and combines her tempered chocolate with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Paring chocolate and wine.
Laurence Conisbee, Wharf Distillery,
The Drink Shed at Cherry Lane Garden Centre, Potterspury
Drinks entrepreneur Laurence began distilling in 2011. He started with apple brandy he now produces a whole host of spirits – gin, whisky, brandy, even beetroot vodka. He will be talking about English whisky, and how he became the country’s smallest producer.
Neneview Dairy, Stanwick
Geoff and Christine Twell set up Neneview Diary in 2013. They started out with just three goats, now have over 100 and have become multi award-winning goat cheese royalty. The couple will be talking goat cheese.
Turan Turan, Coldsmoking Cookery School in Great Linford, MK
Turan has been smoking and preserving foods for many years and regularly features on TV. He will be talking salami and the different ways of curing meat.
Natasha Caton – The Loving Chef, Northampton
Natasha dares to be different. A traditionally trained chef, she now puts her emphasis on the holistic importance of food. She will be talking about raw desserts and alternatives to refined sugar.
Jane White, Now Now South Africa Food Co.
Jane White runs a colourful street food stall cooking dishes from her homeland, strongly influenced by Cape Malay cuisine. She will be talking Cape Malay.
Phil Saxby, Saxby’s Cider
A farmer turned cider maker, Phil makes a range of award-winning ciders. He will be talking apples and the different flavours individual varieties bring to cider.
